Our Story

From the Bride's Perspective

I first met Peter when I started attending ACS back in 2014. I don’t remember my first impression of him too well, but I do remember thinking he was annoying and really really loud. We were 12 years old, and what 12-year-old boy do you know that isn’t annoying?

As the years passed I noticed he was pretty good at basketball and he was growing into a strapping young man. We were both in theater (because it was cool at our school for some reason), so I got to know him there. Anybody who knew me in high school knew how much I loved high school musical! So ya’ll see where this is going…

In 2016 we started to become friends, hanging out in group settings, going to the beach, movies, and field trips. I also started to realize how cute he really was. Still loud but really cute. I would never admit that though because we had a great friendship.

In May 2016 he got the courage to confess his undying love for me! 💞 it was more like a “hey I like you” and I was caught off guard and tried to play it off cool but I was totally freaking out telling my cousin Kiara everything right away.

I then told my mom because I actually really did like him like to the point of wanting to date him, like him. We were in the “talking stage” and homecoming was coming up and duh! Of course he asked me! And of course I said yes! And of course, at homecoming he asked me to be his girlfriend! And of course I said yes! On that night October 8th, 2016 <3

The first two years of our relationship were good. It was fun! We were Besties! But when his senior year came, and graduation was getting closer the stress got to him and neither of us could handle it. It got to the point where we just needed a break. He needed space.

Later that year, after graduation passed we got to talk things over. He was able to get himself together and I was able to focus on myself. He just needed to realize how special I was! 💞😎

He made a promise to me that he would continue to improve himself, to be the best version he could be. From that moment forward he continued to keep his promise. The next two years that followed were so beautiful. I continued to fall in love with this man!

In May 2021 his family surprised me with a trip to Hawaii for his cousins wedding. Let me paint the picture for you… I’m in Hawaii with his amazing family. Madly in love with this dude. At a beautiful wedding, it’s now the bouquet toss. She throws a bouquet, it comes flying straight to me! I caught the bouquet! Well, more like the bouquet chose me!

My life was like a movie in that moment.

Now fast forward to February, Valentine’s Day is coming up. I suggest we get tickets for Disneyland sweethearts night. My little sisters are telling me to dress super cute because “it’s sweethearts night“ my older sister is telling me to get my nails done because “it’s sweethearts night“ Peter suddenly wants to take me to get my nails done and I get ✨clear gel.✨ I am so oblivious, it’s crazy!

We get to Disneyland and I’m the one saying “oh how cute, memories“, “we had our first dates here”, and “remember your birthday here“ and I even made a comment about how cliché it is to get proposed to at Disney. No shade though. I just don’t like crowds.

After our night he wanted to drive down to the beach and that is so unlike him. Why would I look completely past that? I don’t know!

And again, I’m the one saying “how cute, we used to hang out here a lot“, “it’s the basketball court we spend our summers at“, “the fruit stand we used to always go to”, and “a lot of our first date memories“ again, I am so oblivious! Wow!

We finally got to our spot on the beach just vibing, listening to the waves crash and all of a sudden he’s on one knee. But the thing with Peter is, he does this all the time, so I’m obviously not thinking anything of it. He even pulled out a box and I’m still sitting there like “stop messing around you’re so dumb“. Then he opened the box and at that moment I realized it was very much real and I was very much talking over him as he was proposing to me.

Nice job Kayla! And can y’all guess what I said? Well I mean this whole website is dedicated to our wedding, so yeah.

We’re getting married and you’re all invited to come see me kiss a man that used to be a stranger! And now he’s gonna be my husband! And we’re going to have the same last name and I have to share a closet with him.

Yay marriage!
